House extension in Saint Germain en Laye
Sustainable renovation project. This spacious house, very close to the city centre, opens onto a landscaped garden not overlooked. Its extension project made it possible to rethink the ground floor spaces : entrance, kitchen, dining room and living room. These spaces had to be rethought to better meet the tastes and needs of this family with 2 children. Moreover one of the most used spaces, the kitchen was an isolated space, quite small with few storage spaces along with the living-dining room that was a separate room from the kitchen.
Thanks to the house extension the kitchen could become an open and welcoming space immersed in the greenery. It connects with a dining room that opens beautifully into the greenery of the garden.
The extension project of the house with a custom-made veranda opens the living room and kitchen directly onto the garden while connecting the two rooms together. Consequently the garden now looks like an extension of the kitchen and living room. Moreover the veranda created, very high, very bright, is the new dining room of the house.
In addition many storage spaces were created to the kitchen. To cook simply in a bright, pleasant and welcoming atmosphere is the aim. The choice of furniture is very functional and contemporary.
Moreover high storage cupboards and appliances were integrated (dug) into the wall separating the living room from the kitchen with the addition of an IPN beam.
Along a beautiful opening to the garden is a comfortable work surface that ends with a 4-person kitchen table that also serves as an island and preparation surface.
Freed from the dining room, the living room has become a vast living space that connects the kitchen and the living room and allows an additional opening of the house to light and greenery.
A new checkered floor contrasts with the sober and modern kitchen in the entry space.
For this sustainable renovation project the choice of environmentally sustainable materials has been very rigorous. All products come from Europe. A high quality kitchen was chosen for its durability. The kitchen floor and the veranda floor are made of natural stone. LED lighting was carefully chosen to give maximum quality to the light.
The veranda, at the heart of the project, was made to measure by a local craftsman.
